Wisecracks

Went to the opening of Wisecracks Comedy Clubs at the Wong Dynasty last night. Yes, folks will be astonished to know that we were out past nine o'clock any night, let alone a weeknight. Truth was, we started out to see the Last Stand at the Little Bighorn presentation at the American Antiquarian Society, but the place was full. (The fire marshal, we were told, wouldn't let any more people in.) When we pulled in to the parking lot at the Wong, we were pleasantly surprised to see Mike and Lynn's car there. We sat with them at the show.
Anyway, good show with young talent working out new routines and personas. Smith himself was very funny with a mix of physical comedy, interaction with Ziggy (a drunk who wandered in from the bar), and new material. (It worked well when, after reading his notes, he said, "That's all I've got on that so far.")
Some of the humor is, well, let's say, I don't think that I've gone there with my mother. But, then, Mike was there with his mother. And, one of the performers is the same age and goes to the same school as our grandson. Oh, and, the aforementioned Ziggy hit on Sandra a couple of times. The night had the potential for getting weird, but didn't.
I went there as a guy on on a night out with his wife, not as a reporter or blogger, so I didn't catch the names of all of the performers. Sorry, guys. You know who you are and you brought good stuff.
