Wildlife in suburbia

While we were having our breakfast this morning, a young red fox paid a visit.
With apologies for a picture through a screen door

It made a quick tour around the bird feeders, but the squirrels and chipmunks knew to keep their distance. On its way to the back of the yard, it gave chase to the rabbit that lives in our wood pile. The rabbit was too quick and the fox too clumsy (think teenager). After a time, the fox crawled under the fence in the far corner and went hunting elsewhere.
Marian hadn't yet finished her breakfast and still had a slice of bacon on her plate. Marley thought that the bacon might be for him and was unaware of the intruder in the yard.

One of the things I enjoyed most about Spit Brook Road was the true forest just outside the windows. I saw several red foxes while contemplating release dates.

PS - "nimas" is not a word.

Bacon on the plate is worth more than a fox in the bush.
