When pronouns go bad

In a story about saving two adult dogs and 15 puppies from a house fire in Golden, Colorado, we learn that the dogs were cold and wet from the dousing that was required to put out the fire. Firefighters wrapped the dogs in towels and blankets: "They actually didn't have enough, so they had to cut them in half to get them in blankets"
