Anatomy of an Ikea product | Crave : The gadget blog

The nearest Ikea store is more than an hour away and the roadways are not particularly fun to drive. So, we've only been a few times. Each time, however, we've been quite impressed by the store and its products. The shopping experience, I have to admit, is not for the timid. The place is lively, loud, colorful, and confusing, but, at each turn, there's something fun and interesting worth buying.

Ikea designs and builds most of its own furniture. This article, Anatomy of an Ikea product | Crave : The gadget blog, describes the design process and shows how they make good stuff for us and a boatload of money for the company.

One of my good friends works as a manager at Ikea nearby. Awesome place - we go to 'visit' her at work just to hang out. When my husband and I lived in the middle of the country I seriously went into Ikea withdrawls.

Interesting note- did you know that they don't 'do' gift registries? How bizare is that?

Thanks for the link to Crave- it's a fun place.
