Years ago, we visited a friend who lived on a dirt road up in the NH mountains, mid-mud season. Apparently, the road got quite rutty over the season and the people of the small town became frustrated. They demanded that the town do something, and something was done -- a few weeks later, signs were erected saying "Warning! Ruts in road!"
