25 years of cell phone service

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the first commercial cell phone call - 25 years of cell phone service :: CHICAGO SUN-TIMES :: Technology. Our first cell phone was one of those Motorola bag phones with the external antenna. We got the phone in 1993 (and have had that number since). IIRC, we had a 30-minute per month plan. I used it just a little for the first couple of years and then more when I worked in Hartford for a while. As unwieldy as it was, that bag phone got great reception, much better than any phone that we've had since.
